Where your money sits

Paid in stages. Held in trust. Refunded if we stop.

Your payment goes into a client trust account and moves to the firm only when a published stage is completed. You get a written statement at each stage. Stop early and the unfinished stages come back to you.

The word nonrefundable does not appear in our agreement.

Government fees

What USCIS charges, and why it is not in our number.

USCIS sets its own filing fees and changes them on its own schedule. You pay them directly, at filing, to the government. They never pass through us, which means they never sit in a lawyer's trust account and never show up as a surprise line on our invoice.

For a marriage case, expect fees for the I-130 petition and the I-485 application, with the I-765 and I-131 currently carrying their own fees when filed alongside. For citizenship, the N-400 fee, which is lower when filed online. Fee reductions and waivers exist for some applicants, and we will tell you if you qualify.

Current amounts: the USCIS fee schedule. We check them on the day we file, not the day we quote.

Payment plan

Pay over time. Filed when paid in full.

Both case types can be paid on a plan: $995 to begin, then $500 per month for 6 months. Every installment goes into the trust account and follows the same stage rules.

The default rule is that your case is filed once the fee is paid in full, and we say so before you choose the plan. Most of the work before filing, the strategy, the document build, the drafting, happens while you are paying, so choosing the plan does not mean waiting to start.
